On Monday, December 1, 2008, Karen delivered another 155 blankets to the Polaris Project (a group named after the North Star who guided slaves towards freedom along the Underground Railroad), works daily to combat human trafficking and modern-day slavery. Due to the security needs of their clients, we met at a location where it would be safe to transfer the blankets. The car rented by Polaris' staff, however, was a a little too small to hold all the blankets (even though we packed it to the roof! We, however, found creative alternatives (which included the transfer of blankets to two other vehicles) to get the remaining 35-40 blankets to Polaris!
